We strongly recommend using a reputable, experienced, professional landscaper to install your paving, but here’s a brief overview of the installation process:

To remove stubborn stains, use a specialised stone cleaner, but ensure that you test any chemicals that you intend to apply to your stone, in a test or inconspicuous area, before applying across the whole area.

Although technically strong enough to lay on a driveway, we favour laying riven natural stone, clay pavers, setts and cobbles, or porcelain for driveway paving. Smooth sandstone is a porous material that will show tyre marks and oil spills more readily than the aforementioned driveway materials. Be sure to check material specifications before installing any driveway paving.

Sealing sawn sandstone prior to laying (or after it has been installed, if that isn’t possible) is highly recommended, and greatly helps the stone’s durability and maintaining its beautiful appearance. Sealing natural stone does not make it maintenance free, or stop marks from appearing, but it does prevent dirt and moisture from absorbing deep into the material and therefore makes stain removal quicker and easier.
